Izza's Christening

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I've been out for soooooo many weeks and I know I've missing a lot lately. I thought I can keep up with blogging and being a new mom, but I can't. There have been so many adjustments going on that I can't even play FarmVille anymore! LOL! But now, hopefully, little by little I'll try my best to be back on track. :)

Anyway, Izza's 3 1/2 months already, and I'm really excited with all her milestones (and looking forward for more!). She just had her Christening earlier this month, which turns out very well!

Enjoy the details! J

CHURCH: St. Michael the Archangel Chapel
Phil. Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines
845-9555 loc. 6419
REQUIREMENTS: Certified True Copy of baby’s Birth Certificate, CTC of Marriage Certificate, Registration Form, P500 reservation fee which includes the fee for 2 Principal Sponsors and P200 per additional sponsor (we added 6).
TOTAL: P1,700
We paid in full, day before the event, and we were informed that the candles are for the sponsors and the father only (I made extras for Izza’s grandparents L). Me? I have to carry my heavy little girl throughout the ceremony. I promise, my arms went numb due to heaviness! LOL! Good thing, the church is air conditioned, so no sweat at all!

RECEPTION: Shakey’s - Market! Market!
TOTAL: P11,365.61
As far as I know, they only have birthday packages. What we did was, we availed 6 sets of Monster Meal Deal (10-12 persons per set) for the party and they let us use their function room for 2 hours free. Monster Meal Deal is amounting to P1,739 with 12% VAT + 10% Service Charge = P1,894.27. It has Classic Spaghetti and Carbonara Supreme Platter, 2 Pan Pizzas, 3 Pitchers of Softdrinks, and Chick ‘N Chips Party Pack. Not bad huh?! Perfect for an after-lunch event. J

However, since there are no party packages for Christening, we were the ones who provided the balloons, cake, and tarpaulin. But you can ask them if they can refer you to someone, to make your job easier.

CAKE: Iko’s Bakeshop
Caniogan, Pasig City
TOTAL: P2,085
I've found out about Iko's when I was searching the web for very affordable cupcakes. They cost P20 each, and P35 if you want it customized. That's when I learned that they are tied-up with Shakey's too; though that time we haven't decided to do the reception at Shakey's yet.

When we booked with Shakey's, I asked them if they charge corkage fee for the cake, as we wanted to order from Red Ribbon (but they don't do personalized cakes anymore). They said 'yes', but we're not allowed to eat the cake inside. I asked them what if it's from Iko's, since we're getting the cupcakes from them. They said 'no corkage and you'll get to eat the cake inside' - that's good right?!

So me and my hubby went to their outlet in Caniogan, Pasig. Discussed the details of the design with them for the 10” round fondant Chocolate Moist cake, which is soooooo yummy! And since they're tied-up with Shakey's, we've got 12 cupcakes for FREE! Then ordered 13 additional cupcakes, which was all delivered on the venue, on the day of the event, for FREE!

However, I was a bit disappointed because they didn’t quite get the design that I wanted. The color should be light pink and the butterflies are big and they looked like a dead mosquito! But still, the cake and the cupcakes are YUM YUM YUM!!!

TOTAL: P1,300

I asked them if they knew someone who could make the balloon decorations, and they referred me to Ms. M. She's actually one of their employees, which is also a balloon artist (if that's what they call it). She gave us the estimated number of balloons needed, and the sizes for the design. We bought the balloons at Edeng Toys Center and Wonderful Gift Shop located in Gift Market of Market! Market! Though we didn't get to buy everything, we just requested her to maximize the balloons that we bought. She made 2 pillars, flowers, and centerpieces, and she only asked P500 for the labor. Not bad, right?! J

TARPAULIN: X Print! (Market! Market!)

If it's not for my daughter's Christening, I wouldn't learn how to do digital scrapbook. I personally designed a 5.75 ft. x 4 ft. layout using The Promise Collection that I've downloaded for free from ShabbyPrincess. The kit was really cute that I can't resist using it on the Thank You card and on the souvenir itself. I used Smitten Alpha from Eyeinspire for the name IZZA and Vintage Florals Alpha from ShabbyPrincess for the date. Butterflies, downloaded from all over the web. I can say that it was a good practice for me using the Photoshop.

I was so excited when we got the tarp, it turned out nice. Then we brought it to Shakey's together with the balloons, so all the materials needed will be ready for set up. But I was disappointed again because there were folds over Izza's picture, talk about "handle-with-care"!

Izza's OUTFIT: Market! Market!
P350.00 - dress from Chicammy at Fashion Market! 2nd Level, Market! Market! (P500 original price)
  159.80 - Enfant Shoes (P199.75 less 20% discount)
169.00 - Darlington White Stockings from SM Department Store, Makati

Supposedly, she has a baptismal gown, but when I tried it on her she just got an award-winning rashes all over her tummy. I decided to return the gown and the shoes in exchange of two cute casual dresses. So the one that we bought at Chicammy (which was supposed to be her Shakey’s dress) was used during the baptism ceremony. Take note, everybody loved her dress! J

TOTAL: P1,000

Since we were on a tight budget, we decided that souvenirs are for ninongs & ninangs (godfather & godmother) & our respective families only. I've made 15 pcs. of placards, which I bought from Blue Magic, and made it personalized. I've also printed 60 pcs. of business card sized Thank You cards for the guests, just to show how much we appreciated for them to be a part of my daughter's Christening despite of their busy schedule. Invitations were posted on Facebook and tagged those who were invited, that's the most practical and convenient way. LOL! And for the candles, I personally made these, I just wanted it to be as presentable as this. I wanted everything to be pretty just for my daughter. J

By the way, we don't have an official photographer and videographer for the event. However, we've got friends! Pictures were taken by us and by them. Video was taken by my SIL. THANK YOU!!! ♥

Stressful? YES IT IS! LOL!!!

Enjoyed? Oh, YES! Can't wait to prepare for my daughter's first birthday! J
